SANTA MONICA, CALIFORNIA – The International Design Awards (IDA) announced the winners of its 12th annual design competition this week, and Gridopolis Games received Gold honors in two toy design categories: (1) Educational Toy and (2) Board Game. These are the first design awards for Gridopolis, which was developed in 2017.
"Gridopolis Games is honored to have won double gold awards for our Gridopolis construction set and strategy game," said creator and founder Dave Schultze in response to the IDA announcement. "That our product won in two distinct toy design categories speaks to the versatility of Gridopolis. It's not just a cool 3D strategy game, it's a complete game system. We're especially thrilled to be recognized for breaking the mold of traditional flat 'bored' games and encouraging players to think in three dimensions."
Gridopolis, which will be launching on Kickstarter in Summer 2019, is the world's first ‘construction set meets strategy game.' It's a set of simple parts that can be endlessly rearranged, an innovative 3D game, and an expandable system with practical educational applications for STEM learning. Gridopolis is also an Inspire Charter Schools Certified Vendor. Download a Lesson Plan here.
Each year, the IDA competition receives thousands of designs submitted by companies and designers from over 90 countries, all competing for the top prizes in this prestigious award. These awards recognize, celebrate and promote legendary design visionaries, uncovering emerging talent in Architecture, Interior, Product, Graphic, and Fashion Design.
